And it came to pass, when all the peopleH1471 were cleanH8552 passed overH5674 JordanH3383, that the LORDH3068 spakeH559 unto JoshuaH3091, sayingH559,2TakeH3947 you twelveH8147 H6240 menH582 out of the peopleH5971, out of everyH259 tribeH7626 a manH376,3And commandH6680 ye them, sayingH559, TakeH5375 you hence out of the midstH8432 of JordanH3383, out of the place where the priestsH3548' feetH7272 stoodH4673 firmH3559, twelveH8147 H6240 stonesH68, and ye shall carry them overH5674 with you, and leaveH3240 them in the lodging placeH4411, where ye shall lodgeH3885 this nightH3915.4Then JoshuaH3091 calledH7121 the twelveH8147 H6240 menH376, whom he had preparedH3559 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, out of everyH259 tribeH7626 a manH376:5And JoshuaH3091 saidH559 unto them, Pass overH5674 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430 into the midstH8432 of JordanH3383, and take ye upH7311 everyH259 manH376 of you a stoneH68 upon his shoulderH7926, according unto the numberH4557 of the tribesH7626 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478:6That this may be a signH226 amongH7130 you, that when your childrenH1121 askH7592 their fathers in time to comeH4279, sayingH559, What mean ye by these stonesH68?7Then ye shall answerH559 them, That the watersH4325 of JordanH3383 were cut offH3772 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068; when it passed overH5674 JordanH3383, the watersH4325 of JordanH3383 were cut offH3772: and these stonesH68 shall be for a memorialH2146 unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 forH5704 everH5769.8And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213 so as JoshuaH3091 commandedH6680, and took upH5375 twelveH8147 H6240 stonesH68 out of the midstH8432 of JordanH3383, as the LORDH3068 spakeH1696 unto JoshuaH3091, according to the numberH4557 of the tribesH7626 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and carried them overH5674 with them unto the place where they lodgedH4411, and laid them downH3240 there.
9And JoshuaH3091 set upH6965 twelveH8147 H6240 stonesH68 in the midstH8432 of JordanH3383, in the place where the feetH7272 of the priestsH3548 which bareH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 stoodH4673: and they are there unto this dayH3117.
10For the priestsH3548 which bareH5375 the arkH727 stoodH5975 in the midstH8432 of JordanH3383, until every thingH1697 was finishedH8552 that the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 JoshuaH3091 to speakH1696 unto the peopleH5971, according to all that MosesH4872 commandedH6680 JoshuaH3091: and the peopleH5971 hastedH4116 and passed overH5674.11And it came to pass, when all the peopleH5971 were cleanH8552 passed overH5674, that the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 passed overH5674, and the priestsH3548, in the presenceH6440 of the peopleH5971.12And the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205, and the childrenH1121 of GadH1410, and halfH2677 the tribeH7626 of ManassehH4519, passed overH5674 armedH2571 beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, as MosesH4872 spakeH1696 unto them:13About fortyH705 thousandH505 preparedH2502 for warH6635 passed overH5674 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 unto battleH4421, to the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405.
14On that dayH3117 the LORDH3068 magnifiedH1431 JoshuaH3091 in the sightH5869 of all IsraelH3478; and they fearedH3372 him, as they fearedH3372 MosesH4872, all the daysH3117 of his lifeH2416.
15And the LORDH3068 spakeH559 unto JoshuaH3091, sayingH559,16CommandH6680 the priestsH3548 that bearH5375 the arkH727 of the testimonyH5715, that they come upH5927 out of JordanH3383.17JoshuaH3091 therefore commandedH6680 the priestsH3548, sayingH559, Come ye upH5927 out of JordanH3383.18And it came to pass, when the priestsH3548 that bareH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 were come upH5927 out of the midstH8432 of JordanH3383, and the solesH3709 of the priestsH3548' feetH7272 were lifted upH5423 unto the dry landH2724, that the watersH4325 of JordanH3383 returnedH7725 unto their placeH4725, and flowedH3212 over all his banksH1415, asH8543 they did beforeH8032.19And the peopleH5971 came upH5927 out of JordanH3383 on the tenthH6218 day of the firstH7223 monthH2320, and encampedH2583 in GilgalH1537, in the eastH4217 borderH7097 of JerichoH3405.
20And those twelveH8147 H6240 stonesH68, which they took outH3947 of JordanH3383, did JoshuaH3091 pitchH6965 in GilgalH1537.21And he spakeH559 unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, When your childrenH1121 shall askH7592 their fathersH1 in time to comeH4279, sayingH559, What mean these stonesH68?22Then ye shall let your childrenH1121 knowH3045, sayingH559, IsraelH3478 came overH5674 this JordanH3383 on dry landH3004.23For the LORDH3068 your GodH430 dried upH3001 the watersH4325 of JordanH3383 from beforeH6440 you, until ye were passed overH5674, as the LORDH3068 your GodH430 didH6213 to the RedH5488 seaH3220, which he dried upH3001 from beforeH6440 us, until we were gone overH5674:24That all the peopleH5971 of the earthH776 might knowH3045 the handH3027 of the LORDH3068, that it is mightyH2389: that ye might fearH3372 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 for everH3117.
